Museum aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht presents an exhibition devoted to the phenomenon TASCHEN. The exhibition ‘A Passion for TASCHEN’ is a world premiere and will take place from 5 March until 27 August 2017, during and around the international fine art fair TEFAF.

The key focus during the exhibition is the admiration of one of the world’s greatest collectors of TASCHEN books. Through his eyes we view the varied (art, photography, sports, history, nature, society, eroticism) and extensive TASCHEN oeuvre. On the basis of special Art and Collector’s editions, original photographs, bestsellers and objects form the TASHCEN archive the visitor obtains an experience and impression of the diversity and quality to the work of TASCHEN. Inter alia photographic works by Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton and Sebastiao Salgado are to be seen.

Also a selection of bookstands is presented. The design of both the book and the bookstand is considered a ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’. For this TASCHEN collaborates with top designers like among others Philippe Starck and Marc Newson. Over the years controversial titles have been published as well. Therefor a Tripe XXX room (Adult Content) has been erected. The exhibition ends with a ‘please touch room’. Here visitors can browse to one’s heart’s content in a specially equipped reading room.
