London Fashion Week’s new Strand location gives generous space to Rock Vault – the fine jewellery design initiative originated by top British jeweller Stephen Webster. The designs on display demonstrate the breadth of talent among young London-based designers, six of whom receive support to show from the British Fashion Council. Originality marks the trends on display, with mixes of coloured gems leading the way, on rainbow necklaces from Sammie Jo Coxon, beautifully crafted masterpiece brooches and rings at Daou, Oriental-inspired amulet pendants and earrings at Lily Gabriella and futuristic big rings at Yunus and Eliza, whose business has taken off with their striking silver designs for Game of Thrones. Yellow gold is back, in bold, textured and geometric style from Imogen Belfield, set with ribbed marble or diamond broken “columns” at Completedworkds, as quirky details, like crowns or glasses, on round pearls -another trend- from Frances Wadsworth Jones, and in spikily beautiful shapes from Spanner and Wingnut. All names to look out for!
