Women’s evening watches at the moment are all about secrets and surprises, everything from Chanel’s little beauties, hidden under finely crafted diamond camellia flowers in the new Coco Avant Chanel collection, to Van Cleef and Arpels’ Papillon Automate where a translucent blue butterfly gently flaps its delicately enamelled wings.

These pieces are all about high craft and great skill, and they cost a king’s ransom. More accessible, though still a beautifully made jewellery piece and a mechanical watch too, is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest model in their iconic Reverso series. This has recently branched out into customisation with all sorts of dial options and engraving opportunities but this version is so beautiful no-one would want to change anything about it.
