Alina, designed by Sima Vaziry and created in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain artisans captures the diversity of Afghan tribes in an authentic, easily-wearable and stunning jewellery collection. The everyday jewellery pieces comprise necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets, as well as the hero piece of the collection, the Afghan Tribes Peace Brooch, which represents the union of the different tribes in Afghanistan.

When designing the collection, it was important to Sima that a female voice and viewpoint should be used as her inspiration; partly to tell the story of another side of Afghanistan, but also to celebrate the creativity and skills of Afghan women. The traditional embroidery patterns crafted by Afghan women offered the answer, resulting in contemporary jewellery pieces featuring motifs such as stars, flowers and petals combined with the Afghan semi-precious stones, Lapis Lazuli and Turquoise. Through the jewellery pieces stories are told, love is demonstrated, and creativity is encouraged and admired. Each piece has been handcrafted by expert artisans at a jewellery business based in Kabul.

Turquoise Mountain is a British not-for-profit organisation which aims to support traditional Afghan craft by connecting artisan businesses with designers and retailers across the globe.
